New Snotling Team
I am very pleased with my socked Fungus Flinga. Here you can see I have switched out the body, his left arm and head are the same as the original. I didn't alter the fungus projectile, I thought it would be enough to alter the paint job slightly.Fun-hoppas. I did a bit of resculpting on the face of the spongy mushroom, since their facial expression is a bit too specific. I felt that the trumpet was appropriate for a cavalry charge and the is frying pan a fitting weapon for a drive by charge. Stilty runnas, not all snotlings are capable of the job as you can see from our friend on the right. The snotling in the box with the sock-hat seemed to me to have a pose inviting a backwards fall, so I went ahead and started my project. I kept having problems trying to pose him on the stilts to make it look convincing. I tried to sketch what it would look like if someone were to fall backwards in a cartoonish way with their foot coming forward (the stilt falling forward, or someone falling on rollerskates or off a skateboard). As the foot moves forward their centre of gravity moves backwards. I came to the conclusion that the snotling's pose was not right, but at this point it didn't seem right to slice him up for re-posing at this point, so I tried to make the best of it and pushed forward.
It is not as good as I wanted or envisioned but I still feel it tells the story.
I was struggling with the position of the stilts but I am pleased with how they came out. I mainly used bits from the pump-wagon that I somehow managed to have left over. I also had enough for at least another stilt, but it was not needed. The little step/cross-bar was from a 'Battle For Skull Pass' night goblin bow. (I got sooo many off cut bits from that box.)
Little damage to the crown of his head covered with greenstuff where there was a bubble inside the sock. Other than that I don't think you can really tell that he used to be adorned with a 'hat'.
I am not the biggest fan of the Blood Bowl troll, like many others, and since I am already using it for the Black Orc team, I opted to use the fabulous sculpts of Rockgut Troggoths instead. They fit well with the snotlings sculpting style. I also posses the old counterpart of these so neatly mirrors the two teams.
I was not sure where I stood on the spongy mushrooms for the Fun-hoppas but I'm coming around. I had small squigs available and some snotlings in mind and came up with this. The 1987 pump wagon pumper with a bit of reposing conveys speed and dynamic movement very well. The left squig is from the Warhammer Fantasy plastic Night Goblin Fanatic box, the predecessor to the current Gloomspite Gitz Fanatics. The right squig is from the Runtherder in the Ork Gretchin box. I needed to do a bit of sculpting work on the squig where I cut away the Orks arm. I just finished off his mane a bit and joined up the strap. Since the snotling is clambering onto the area his body is covering it quite well. Old School Stilty Runnas. The left guy is a chaos familiar so not technically a Snotling but once painted up you won’t be able to tell the difference. The guy to the right is a snotling I found that I thought had potential, I re-posed him slightly, gently using pliers. I extended his spear as I felt like it made sense that they would find a spear and repurpose it as a stilt. I then drilled through his hand and ran a paper clip through it that I then covered with green stuff for the second stilt. Came out alright. Been wanting to use these old Stone Trolls, they are full of character and brings the nostalgia. They firmly set the team in their time period. Utilise the stone trolls in both teams link the teams.
Old School Snotling Team
Old School Fungus Flingas. I didn't even have to do any converting here. Found some that already come armed with fungus to fling at the opposition. Two different poses. Snotling that is a bit more hunched over makes the fungus ball less obvious but I will paint the fungus very bright so they are eye catching enough that it will be clear they are the Fungus Flinga postitionals.I was not sure where I stood on the spongy mushrooms for the Fun-hoppas but I'm coming around. Next month we look at the line snotlings, bribes, coaching staff and other inducements.

Great conversions! Love the slipping snotling on stilts, fits the theme perfectly. The old-school snotlings on squigs also look really nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouraging comment. Yeah snotligs always do well with a bit of chaos.
