You need a lot of Snotlings for the teams to utilise the swarming rule and to have a bench for all the casualties. So here is the bulk, the Linemen.
New Snotling Team
Above is the Snotling team basic line men, assembled out of the box. I have drilled out the trumpet, I feel trying to paint flat things to look like holes are usually more hassle than to take a little time to drill a hole, do a bit of carving with a hobby knife and then to smooth it off.
Some converted linemen, the first guy from the left is made up of the fungus flinga and the slingshot crewman from the pump wagon. The middle guy is made up of the fun-hoppa and the trumpet player and an added mushroom.
Same models but from behind. The third guy is the stilty runna without his stilts, he looks a bit odd if you look too closely but they are all a bit odd so he’ll fit in nicely.
Above shows three more converted snotlings. First on the left is the pumper crewman featured in the pump wagon. I've altered the duplicate by removing the bar he was holding to create a unique lineman who now looks like a literal knuckle dragger. I doubt anyone will notice the similarities as the original crewman is hidden at the back of the pump wagon. The middle guy is a combination of parts from the Snotling with left spiked shoulder pad and the guy with the right spiked shoulder pad.
The third guy is a combo of the nose picker and the guy with a mushroom.
Old School Snotling Team
Front view. Left most snotling is from the old night goblin set designed by Aly Morrison and Brian Nelson in the late 1990s, with his club removed. Second and fifth from the left are Blood Blowl Snotlings from 2nd edition.
Same view from the back. The 2nd from the left is a classic Blood Bowl Snotling, having a dump in someone’s helmet. The 3rd model is a later resculpting of the same mode, this time released in the thieving grots set. And the fourth from the left is from the 1987 pump wagon.
The very badass looking Snotling, third from the left, came as one of the 'Games Day 2007' miniatures. Everyone else in this line up are Blood Bowl snotlings from the 2nd edition.
I assume the second guy from the left is pointing to the (potential / eventual) big guy behind him. I’ve bought a lot of these snotlings on eBay and they have had their feet broken off where they have been attached to the bases. Some had not been cast properly and been therefore also missing feet. I’ve sculpted them replacements, not my best work but good enough.
The fourth guy from the left is a snotling from the old fanatic plastic box, having the metal ball he was holding removed. He has a magnet added in his hood so he can hold a ball. The left most model was from the Snotling blister packs you used to be able to buy with mixed snotlings. He had a club that I removed and reposed his hands.
The remaining three are 2nd edition snotlings. I find it weird with the size differences, especially the big fellas who feel like they are from a different set and have much more defined details. The small ones all appeared on an mail-order advert, numbering each one, 1-29. Do any of you have insight into why there where 6 large and 29 small?
This was one of the badly cast snotlings, so I gave him a foot back and tried to give him a hand (pun intended). I removed the fungus ball he was holding and added a magnet so he could hold the ball. I managed to give him two left feet and his fist is a mess but looking at some of the sculpting on these old snotlings it's not that far off.
I hope that he will blend in once painted.
First from the left is from the 2003 pump wagon set. I have drilled out his trumpet as well. Second guy is from the 1998 Warhammer Quest with the club removed and the base carved away.
The third from the left is another 2nd edition Blood Bowl Snotling. I really should have gathered them together for the photos, I'll try to remember next time.
Up next I got some support staff and tokens.
