Blood Bowl at Warhammer World

So Blood Bowl has been kicked out of the main store room at warhammer world. It has been moved in to Forgeworld’s room.

It’s a nice little corner but yet another case of only allowing the poster boys in the spotlight and side projects are being pushed aside making it a self fulfilling prophecy that they are less successful than the poster boys.
Scylla Anfingrimm is sold as a blood bowl model. She is one massive model for the pitch though. Even bigger than Forgeworlds massive Deathroller.
Think this is a tutorial board they have made (think I saw something about it in a white dwarf) which is handy, I wonder how well it works.

Da Hallam Packers

A blonde witch elf not something I remember seeing before but I like it even though I’m not sure it’s technically supported by the fluff.
Fabulous Flash Hearts
by Ben
Glorious orc cheerleaders
Humans
Massive scyla as discussed

I really like these chaos cheerleaders
Elves
I snapped some pictures of what's new in the exhibition as well.
I can’t say that I’m a massive fan of the trophy feels like the details gets a bit lost could do with a bit more contrast. Well the blood has plenty of contrast but I was mainly thinking of the silver.
This turned in to quite a lengthy post, I won't comment on all the pictures and let you browse them as you see fit.

Same text as the plaque on the wall next to it... see picture further down

In this classic game of fantasy football, the roar of the crowd and the chance for glory brings together players and spectators from every race in the Old World.

On the Blood Bowl pitch, tactical finesse meets wanton, brutal violence in a game where anything can happen (and often does!)
Reikland Reavers Vs Gouge Eye
Dust Creek Thundabowl, Backwater Brawl Tour 2459
Recreated here is a real fan favourite, a 'friendly' exhibition match between two long-time rivals. The Backwater Brawl tours were all about bringing the big names to the lesser known stadiums on the circuit, and they didn't come much lesser known than the Thundabowl, but both teams gave it their all and put on a great show. This was Krug Painspear's first match with the Eye, and the rookie Blitzer - seen here on the line of scrimmage with the blue topknot - tallied an impressive five casualties, hinting at potential that would be realised in the years to come.
This pitch was created to be photographed and used as the basis for the card pitches in the blood bowl boxed game.
Miniatures and advertising boards were later added to turn the pitch into a display.
The game shown is not legal by the rules of Blood Bowl but is very much in the spirit of the game's background!
These first pictures are from while the display was still in the shop and easier to photograph included some pictures from it moved in to the exhibition. I think the plaques are new?
I've tried to capture the ads as best as I could.

Averland Knights Vs Skavenblight Scramblers
Mandred Ratslayer Memorial Stadium, Sommerzeit Slam 2472
Head referee Murbo Butterfoot tries to restore order after a number of decoy balls are thrown in by fans at the Scramblers' end, causing utter bedlam. It would later become apparent that this ruse had been planned by Gutter Runner Skreebl Stiffwhisker (seen sprinting for the Knights' End Zone), who had the real ball stuffed under his cloak the whole time. The devious plot might have worked if not for strapping Blitzer Jorg Hofholder, whose ferocious high block stopped the sneaky rat in his tracks.

The new stealth models is starting to get a bit ridiculous.

  1. My problem is that I go into my local gamesworkshop and ask about blood bowl.... and the staff look at me blankly like 'you're in a warhammer store, we only sell games workshop products.' And that's the problem, IT IS a games workshop product but they don't stock anything in their stores, the staff don't know anything about the products and now they make it harder to get exposed to it at warhammer world if you don't know what you're looking for. It's not like they had that big of space issue. I feel like it would have made more sense moving the shirt section to a different location if they felt they were struggling for space.
If a new player sees or hears about blood bowl and walks in to a store, they won't get any help and give up. There won't be any new players from walk-ins to the stores as you even buy the products, and now Warhammer world are sidelining it even more. It just makes me sad how inaccessible it is becoming, which doesn't make sense since they now have invested in making a rerelease and made up moulds for it.
