Bonehead podcast
ALL THINGS BLOOD BOWL
I was planning to do a series of podcast reviews. It has only been 3 years since the inaugural one, by 2050 I may have even written a third.
As the title of this article suggests, I'm reviewing The Bonehead Podcast but it's important to note that they are more YouTube based. They do some videos that don’t show up on the audio feed so I usually access it through YouTube rather than my go-to podcast app. Watching rather than listening to the podcast means I catch the visual references they make as well.
I was there listening when The Bonehead Podcast got started. The first episode premiered on the 28th of July 2018, and I have been following its path ever since. It certainly had its share of teething issues, but it has come a long way. Ben is a powerhouse of an enthusiast, constantly dreaming up new ideas.
You can find their website here.
But more suitably on youtube channel.
Since the podcast started in 2018 it has racked up, at the time of writing this, 101 episodes. There is boundless more content that isn't counted towards the podcast numbering system. Their youtube channel has 989 videos.
The UK based podcast started with Ben and Rich as hosts. After Rich took a step back from the podcast, another Ben (known as BloodtitheBen to differentiate) joined the team. They also have plenty of other people joining them to chat about all things Blood Bowl.
The Bonehead Podcast are always on the ball with the latest Blood Bowl releases and rumours. I think the main ethos and spirit of the podcast is to celebrate and interact with the Blood Bowl community. They run community polls and competitions and base content around that. Here are a few examples of the selection of content you can expect:
They run their own tournaments and the content is a bit tournament focused which doesn’t appeal to me but I understand that it probably is for the larger part of the active Blood Bowl community.
They do not seem that bothered with the fluff and history of Blood Bowl which is a shame but they have run competitions for community made short stories so they still enjoy the setting. They are into BloodBowl to have fun which is a plus. So, expect lots of custom house rules. They love sevens which I agree with.
This isn't favourite podcast for Blood Bowl content but it is definitely one of my go-to's. As Ben likes to say,
"More Blood Bowl is More Better."
